Article 53 Rebecca Peterson Materials¶

I'm writing to express my support for Article 53. The bonus provisions were carefully
designed and approved through a year-long public process, and they are meant to allow
extra mass/height only for significantly-sized commercial spaces or a significant increase
in Aordable units. Parking and other uses of the ground-floor area should not be
subtracted before calculating commercial space requirements. These types of
calculations would be inconsistent with what Town Meeting approved, thus leaving us with
undersized commercial spaces. The intent of the bylaw is to prioritize substantial, viable
commercial space in exchange for additional development allowances.
