BYLAW AMENDMENT / ADOPTION OF UPDATED VERSION

OF TOWN MEETING TIME

To see if the Town will vote to amend Title I, Article 1, Section 3 of

the Town Bylaws to change the edition of Town Meeting Time that

is used by Town Meeting.

Vote and comment to Town Meeting - Favorable Action (5-0)

The Board voted unanimously to recommend favorable action on

this article. The proposed amendment seeks to update the

version of Town Meeting Time that serves as the authoritative

source for many of the procedures and practices at Town

Meeting, from the third edition, published in 2001, to the fourth

edition, published in 2025.

Vote Language:

That the Town does and hereby amend Title I, Article 1, Section 3

of the Town’s Bylaws, or take any action related thereto, so that

the new Section reads:

Section 3. Duties of Moderator

The duties of the Moderator, and the government of the

Town Meeting, not specially provided for by law, or by the

foregoing rules, shall be determined by rules of practice

contained in Town Meeting Time, A Handbook of

Parliamentary Law, by Johnson Trustman and Wadsworth, a

Committee of the Massachusetts Moderator's Association,

published by Massachusetts Moderators Association 2001,

fourth edition so far as they are adapted to the condition

and powers of the Town.
