The Board heard from the petitioner regarding this warrant article
that sought to pursue a process for the sale of a piece of property
described by the petitioner as “0 Reed Street”, a property that the
petitioner believed might be town owned. At its initial hearing on
the matter, the Board questioned whether there was agreement
that the property’s history of recorded ownership and the extent of
the Town’s property interest, if any. By motion at the initial
hearing, the matter was tabled for one week so that more
information could be obtained regarding ownership of the
property.
At the continuation of the hearing on this article, the Board heard
from Town Counsel and the petitioner, who reported that after
additional research and discussion, the property’s title records
indicate that the parcel that is the subject of the article is not town
owned. Accordingly, the petitioner agreed that the matter should

not proceed to Town Meeting for its consideration. Despite the
vote of no action on this article, the Board took the opportunity of
the hearing to engage in a productive discussion regarding the
potential sale of surplus town property as part of its ongoing
efforts, working in conjunction with the Town Manager, to identify
and tap all available revenue sources for the Town.
Vote Language:
That no action be taken on Article 37.
